Navigating Success: Top Android Map Apps in Europe, Q4 2023

As the year 2023 came to a close, the Navigation and Maps category on Android devices in Europe saw varying performances among the top applications. Data from Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the trends for these essential tools.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a strong presence with its downloads peaking at 211K and closing the quarter at nearly 200K. Weekly active users started at 4.47M and saw a slight decline to 4.38M by the end of Q4.

Google Earth witnessed downloads hovering around the 100K mark throughout the quarter, concluding with a spike at 106K. Active users experienced a more noticeable fluctuation, starting at 1.17M, dipping to 962K, and rebounding to 1.09M in the final week of December.

An interesting contender, GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation, generated modest revenue throughout the quarter, with the highest at $2.4K in early October and ending with $2.1K. Downloads saw a gradual decline from 67K to 36K, while weekly active users decreased from 216K to 144K.

Next, GPS+ Maps, Navigation, Traffic also produced revenue, starting at $931 and reaching $1.4K by year's end. This app's downloads started stronger at 35K but dropped to 28K, while active users saw an overall downward trend from 63K to 56K.

Lastly, Google Maps Go maintained consistent download numbers around the mid-30Ks and concluded the quarter with 32K. Its weekly active user base remained stable, with slight variances, starting at 198K and ending the period at 194K.
